Frequently asked questions.

How long will it take to begin to earn money for my songs?

Your songs will begin to earn money as soon as they are placed in one of our media markets. However, production music is a long-term strategy, so it can take up to 12 months or more to begin to see the larger checks flowing in. The most important thing to keep in mind is that once you begin earning from your titles, the amount of royalties you will earn accumulate over time - and never end.

Will I own the rights to my music after I sign the deal?

As with the vast majority of publishing deals, the Music Publisher (in this case “Pure Uncutz”) has to obtain the rights to the songs you would like us to procure music placements for. Major Publishers, Supervisors and other Licensing Entities will not accept music that is not owned by the submitting party. It works this way for the sake of efficiency and benefits everyone. It also reduces the amount of administrative work required to secure placements on your behalf. Just imagine if a Music Supervisor had to officially obtain an individual copyright assignment form from every writer and composer on a particular song they wanted to place in tv; that wouldn’t be very effective would it?

Will I get paid publishing?

We collect your publishing income when it comes to us from your placements. After your publishing is collected, we send you 50% of the income twice per year and you are paid 100% of your performance income (writer share) directly from your PRO on a quarterly basis.

How will I know when I receive a placement?

Our artists receive quarterly reports of their earnings and placements. Many times your PRO (Ascap, BMI or Sesac) will report your sync placements before we do, so make sure to check with your PRO periodically. We’ll also share some of our successful placements on our website so you can share your traction with your fans. Many times having your fans hear your music on TV will encourage them to stream and purchase more of your music and products online. It can also help you secure collaborations, discovery, and new awareness for your work. Think of your placements like free marketing and promotions.
